It's back to affordable basics.
The American flyer was conceived as a replacement for the venerable and somewhat antiquated Tear Drop Trailer. The tear drop has been around for many years with the first examples showing up in Southern California in the 30’s. In its day it was quite popular owing to its low cost and towing match to low powered vehicles in use at the time. By the 1960’s its popularity waned owing to larger and more powerful tow vehicles. Recently it has re-gained popularity resulting from down-sizing of tow vehicles, cost of fuel and storage costs, to say nothing of acquisition and maintenance cost.
Our vision was to create a new vehicle type employing modern materials and packaging methods with greatly
enhanced user comfort
while maintaining the simple and economical virtues of the Tear Drop or as we like to
refer to it: “A Tear Drop for the 21st Century.”
Design is very automotive in execution, with nearly 200% more interior volume. We are more aerodynamic than the traditional tear drop. At 1,000 lbs, we are towable by most anything, completely garage-able, and easily maneuvered by one person on a solid surface. We have provided a rack system to facilitate carrying of rafts, kayaks, canoes, and bicycles.
